Algeria World Para: Two gold medals for the Maghreb

Samir+Nouioua+_tXSf9TZk32m-300x200The Algerian athlete Samir Nouioua won Saturday in Lyon, the first gold medal of the Greens, at the World Para-Athletics Championships. The Athlete of the IR Birmendreis Mashaal has won the 5000m T46 class in 15:09.92. His main opponent, the Brazilian Pirez Alex finished second (15:10.82) ahead of the Australian Michael Roeger (15:13.98).

The Moroccan Amine Chentouf was impressive in the classroom (T12) on the 5000m. He held the first place (14:32.27), leaving between him and the silver medalist, the Algerian Karfas Nacer-Eddine, a significant difference (15:19.99.).

The Algerians want to repeat the feat achieved in the previous edition of the competition where they came home with 21 medals (8 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze). They finished 11th overall.
