Despite many challenges, the election for a new president at the head of the SLFA (Sierra Leone Football Association) was held on Saturday. It is Isha Johansen who took the upper hand. This lady of 48 years was the only female candidate in the running after the ouster of five competitors including the former international, Mohammed Kallon.

“I’m looking forward to a new football management to be born in Sierra Leone. People should expect a president who will encourage the development of football, bringing to more education, because there are so many young children who want to play football, but do not want to go to school. We will also see the development of women’s football”, has she said after her election in Freetown.

Her first challenge will be to negotiate the resumption of the first division after 10 clubs have announced their withdrawal in support of Mohammed Kallon, flunked.
