The Egyptians arrive on the French Riviera with the goal: to get the maximum number of medals.
Our participation in the Francophone Games was not easy due to the instability in our country. But our participation was very important, especially for political reasons. It is essential to show the world that Egypt is present. Sport is an effective way to prove it, “said Khaled Hammouda, president of the Egyptian delegation.
The absence of stars, reduction of the number of sports activities and political instability make the task very difficult for the Egyptians in Nice. But repeat the exploits of previous editions is not possible, “said Khaled Hammouda.
However Egypt wants to make an excellent performance in this competition. In athletics, the land of the Pharaohs will align 13 athletes including 8 men and 5 women with the aim to get 6 medals. But Egypt plays more on wrestling to climb onto the top step of the podium.
The Egyptian judo will be present with 6 judokas (4 men and 2 women) and with the aim to get 3 medals. Finally the table tennis will be represented by a man and a lady who promised a medal.

In previous editions, Egypt was among the first countries in the final standings. At the last edition of the Francophone Games in Lebanon in 2009, Egypt was ranked fifth with 14 medals including 4 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.
