Five other countries Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso and Senegal have joined Ghana, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria reached the final round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on Saturday.

In Group A, Ethiopia defended the summit with a come-from-behind 2-1 defeat of Central African Republic in Brazzaville, a neutral venue. Salif Keita scored the first goal for  CAR  but Saladin Said and Minyahil Teshome, struck the vital winning goals for the Ethiopians. Africa champions Nigeria beat Malawi 2-0 at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

Cape Verde shockingly picked three points from the Stade Olympique de Rades. 2013 AFCON finalist Burkina Faso progressed from Group E after a 1-0 win over Gabon in Ouagadougou.

Senegal advanced with a 1-0 triumph at ten-man Uganda’s expense. Mane Sadio struck late on for the  TerangaLions , who benefited from Godfrey Walusimbi’s 38th minute sending off. The west Africans finished top of Group J with 12 points – four points ahead of closest challenger Uganda.

Group I leaders Cameroon will battle Libya on Sunday for the last spot up for grabs.
