All sports Thomas Bach: New IOC President!

GERMANY-IOC-PRESIDENT-BACHIt is now official. We know the Successor to Jacques Rogge in office since 2001. Germany’s Thomas Bach was elected new president of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) on Tuesday after a vote which met six candidates.

Former Olympic fencing champion, Bach became the ninth president of the Olympic institution. He was the favorite of the general meeting at which the organization of the 2020 Olympic Games was entrusted to Japan.

Thomas Bach, 60, was elected by an absolute majority in the second round against the other four candidates, Switzerland’s Denis Oswald, the Puerto Rican Richard Carrion, the Ukrainian Sergei Bubka and the Singaporean Ng Ser Miang, survivors of the first round.

Earlier, nine new members, including two (2) Africans have made their entry in the IOC Session.
