Angola Basketball: The Angolan Carlos Morais on the way to the NBA ?

OLY-2008-CHN-BASKET-CHN-ANGAs surprising as it may seem, Angola, the African reigning basketball champion and also king of the Africa Basket with its eleven coronations at the helm of the continent has no basketball player in the NBA while the continent has more than a dozen players (Ibaka, Deng, Sefolosha, Biyombo, Mbah a Moute …) in the North American league.

The Angolan basketball, a reference in Africa

During the last decade, with the exception of the London Olympics, Angola has always represented the African continent on the international scene. In 2006, Angolans have even managed to take a nice 10th place (out of 24 participants) at the world basketball championships in Japan. However, during the Olympics of 2004 and 2008, the Angolans systematically took the last place. The collective game as well as the basketball culture of this country is not to put into question. They lack a star, seasoned with a jousting international level, to take a course.

Carlos Morais on the way to the NBA?

Elected best player at the latest Afrobasket, Carlos Morais will be at the training camp of the NBA Toronto Raptors, whose leader is none other than Masai Ujiri (first African to head a North American sports franchise all sports combined). The Scouts of the Raptors are not probably deluded by integrating a player who is yet mature in his game (27) and in addition to being clever, is endowed with physical qualities to the standards of the NBA.
