Africa Ghanaian striker Banahene detained at Ataturk Airport in Instabul

BanaSanlıurfaspor Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Osei Banahene was on Wednesday detained at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey over suspicion of fraud. Africatopsport understands that the former Karsiyaka hitman was in Ghana for the funeral of his late father after receiving permission from his club, but on his return he was detained at the airport in Istanbul for allegedly using a credit card to buy a fake round trip ticket for a friend.

His friend reported him to the police for his inability to use the ticket after which Banahene was detained.

The striker is being interrogated by Turkish Police and could be released to join his club for the weekend game, officials of his club are hoping. Banahene who netted 14 goals last season for Karsiyiaka on loan joined Saliufaspor this summer after terminating his contract with Orduspor.
