Fighting Ken Norton: the man who broke the jaw of Muhammad Ali is dead – video of the battle

Former-boxer-Ken-NortonKen Howard Norton, a former boxer of the heavyweight gold in the noble art (editor’s note, along with Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Leon Spinks and Jimmy Young) age, died yesterday at the age of 70 years.

More known as Ken Norton, “The Black Hercules” passed away in Arizona, following a heart problem. Former world champion heavyweight WBC (1978), a former soldier (in the Marine Corps of the United States) has marked the history of boxing to have made life difficult for Mohamed Ali on three fights that have opposed them. At their first face to face for the title of the NAF (North American Champion trucks. Title he won in 1973 and 1975), Norton break Ali’s jaw with a right hook, but the fight went until the end of the 12 rounds. It requires a decision of arbitrators (2 wins against 1). Ali will win two others still on the decision of the arbitrators.

The boxing legend (Mohamed Ali) tells Norton he is the best fighter he has faced, except maybe Joe Frazier. During his career in the ring, Ken Norton delivered 50 professional fights for: 42 wins with 33 knockouts, 7 losses and 1 draw.

The story linked his death to the goal of the Welsh Aaron Ramsey during the Champions League match between Arsenal and Marseille. Reconciliations between the goals of the player and celebrity deaths are troubling.
