Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson tells the club’s TV channel MUTV that he was impressed with striker Wayne Rooney and the team performance in beating German side Bayern Leverkusen 4-2.
“I thought they were terrific on Tuesday,” he says. “Wayne’s performance was fantastic, and I was pleased to see that. He has got his energy back. As a director, I was delighted to see him back to what we always remember him. What is important and key to the team is if Vida [Nemanja Vidic] stays fit. And then you look at the forwards, you have got Rooney and Van Persie both scoring, and Valencia looks back to his best. It’s amazing how a shirt number can affect a player.
“Michael Carrick’s form has continued from last season, David De Gea is maturing. Patrice Evra is at his normal level. There lots of plus points. I thought it was going to be a difficult game but they made it easy for themselves. They dominated“, Ferguson said
