After a run of three defeats, two slaps against Senegal and Mozambique, Egypt held its first victory in the 23rd edition of the Afrobasket. Opposed to Zimbabwe, the other bad defense in group A, the Egyptians won 85-55.

In the wake of Mena Awad (28 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals) and Alia Gamal (13 points, 2 assists and 2 steals) architects of this victory, Egypt controlled its opponent from start to finish.

With this win, Mena Awad and co are given the right to play a decisive final day of pool against Algeria on Wednesday.
