Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) revealed on Thursday that Open camp for World Cricket League coming up February 2014 would commence August this year. Nigeria’s national team qualified into Division 5 when the team finished second from Division 6 in Jersey, UK.
Speaking to NAN, Okon Ukpong, Manager of the national team, said the camping would enable the identification and create opportunity for younger talents in the Under-17 and Under -19 categories that could make it into the national men’s team.
“The Division 5 will hold in Malaysia in February and so hopefully, we will start the programme by the end of this month on an open basis, because we want to dilute the team a bit with younger players. We just want to get the boys to come and we look at their skills level and work on them in terms of skills enhancement.’’
He added that the team would travel to Abuja to improve the team further and as the qualification to Division 5 would further spread the need for sponsorship of the game
