Platinum Stars has won the final of the MTN 8 competition which holds at the beginning of each season, the eight best teams of the South African championship. The Stars have defeated Orlando Pirates in the penalty shootout 3-1. At the end of normal time and extra time, both teams are separated 1-1.

Robert Ng’ambi allows Platinum to advance first before Thabo Matlaba restores parity in the second half. In the penalty shootout, Orlando showed clumsy, only Andile Jali scored his shot.

Platinum Stars then pockets the $ 800,000 gain contained in the trophy.
