Africa Ghana-Egypt: Ben Koufie ” Egypt to host Ghana in Cairo is unfair”

As Africa Top Sports revealed a few days ago that the Ghanaian Football Association filed a complaint to FIFA on October 7 claiming a shifting of the 2014 Brazil Playoffs’ 2nd leg match to be held in Cairo due to the recent unsafe security in Egypt, Fifa as a response gave way to Egypt to host Ghana in the volatile Cairo.

And as you might imagine Ghanaians as well as  The former GFA chairman and ex-FIFA instructor Ben Koufie are not happy at all with the decison.

The governing body said its decision was based on guarantees received from the government of Egypt and CAF’s decision to allow Al Ahly to play their Champions League match in Cairo.

“I don’t think it is fair to Ghana. FIFA should give a second thought to the whole thing,” Mr. Koufie told XYZ Sports.

He added that “the troubles are still going on there in Egypt so Ghana has every right to complain of safety”.

Ghana thrashed Egypt 6-1 during the first leg tie played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on October 15, 2013.
