Brazil 2014 Ghana: Jawula “Black Stars will be safe in Cairo”

Lepowura-MND-JawulaAfrica Top Sports let you know earlier about Black Stars’ initial fears to play the game in Cairo due to the current unsafe security in Egypt.

But following FIFA’s inescapable decision to maintain the game in the Egyptian capital despite Ghana’s complaint seeking a neutral venue, Ex-Ghana FA boss Alhaji Jawula judged it better to sensitize their players on no danger in playing in Cairo.

Jawula who has been a Match Commissioner in Cairo for two CAF Champions League matches, says Ghana should trust FIFA.

“Fifa would have done a lot in the quite, it does not happen anywhere that a team goes and get into trouble,” said Alhaji Jawula in an interview with Joy sports

“I have been match commissioner on two occasions in Cairo, I was specifically to go and commission matches there at the heart of confusion, some of the matches were move to the military stadium which was even safer because it was a military area and before you go there they would have searched thoroughly before you get access.

“I know we have general fears, the FA president is expressing them same as the Sports Minister but what I can be sure about is we will not be allowed to go and play a match when FIFA is aware that something can go wrong.”

Ghana is playing World Cup Brazil 2014 playoffs’ second leg tie against Egypt at the Air Defense Stadium on 19 November.
