Europe Boxing: Groves stunned to hear David Haye’s sudden retirement

1304192548_george-groves-david-haye (1)Africa Top Sports reported ealier that the 33-year-old Londoner David Haye, who won world titles at heavyweight and cruiserweight is forced to retire after his shoulder surgery by doctors in Germany.

Georges Groves, who used to train and spar with Haye working under coach Adam Booth, got stunned by the shaky news about his counterpart and believes he could yet make a return.

“Shocking, I’m still stunned,” he told Sky Sports.

“But I wouldn’t say he needs to rush out and make a decision , he must feel like the world is against him when it comes to injuries right now, but hopefully it’s not too bad and with some good solid rehab he’ll be back, “ he added.

George Groves ( reigning Commonwealth titleholder in the super middleweight division) is expected on Saturday, November 23 at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester to challenge Carl Froch (three time world champion professional boxer, unified IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion, and former two-time WBC super-middleweight champion).
