Africa Sepp Blatter: Qatar must change working conditions

sepp-blatter_2288121bAfrica Top Sports reported in the late September, the “unacceptable” poor conditions migrant workers in Qatar were facing in the contest of the 2022 World organization preparations of the sovereign Arab state set by the world football body, Fifa to host the mass competition.
According to a source, relayed by 10 Sports, at least 44 workers were killed between June 4 and August 8. More than half died of a heart attack, heart failure or accident. The paper also discusses unpaid wages and food deprivation.
In front of such an injustice, Fifa president Sepp Blatter calls the Qatari football leaders for an improvement of the working conditions after meeting with the International Trade Union Confederation president Michael Sommer.

Contrary to many reports, the unacceptable situation in Qatar regarding working conditions is of big concern to FIFA, and myself,” the president wrote on his Twitter page.
“I’m convinced Qatar are taking the situation seriously and that change will come.”
And in a statement on the FIFA website he added: “These very discussions about Qatar show just what an important role football can play in generating publicity and thus bringing about change.”
