Football Drogba and Eboue threatened with sanctions for paying tribute to Mandela -Video

nThe Turkish Football Federation does not sympatize with tributes to Nelson Mandela. Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboué have come to notice it. Both Ivorian internationals of Galatasaray (Istanbul) , are threatened with sanctions for paying tribute at the end of a match to ” Madiba “ who died on Thursday , according reports by the Turkish press on Sunday.

 

Friday night, at the end of the match between Galatasaray and SB Elagizspor , accounting for the Turkish Cup , Drogba has unveiled under his jersey a T-shirt on which was written ” Thank you Madiba “, the nickname of the symbol of the anti- apartheid struggle.

 

Eboue did the same; his T- shirt read the message “Rest in peace Nelson Mandela “. Both players were sent by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF ) to the Disciplinary Committee if could rely on dailies Hürriyet and Milliyet . It is in principle prohibited for footballers to display political slogans or messages on their jerseys.
In 2009, Frederic Kanoute had also been in trouble with the Spanish federation after wearing a T-shirt to support Palestine in full game.
