Brazil 2014 President John Mahama urges Black Stars for welded defence ahead of World Cup

Being aware of the importance of a good Ghana defence to stun German and Portuguese strikers in Brazil, Ghana President John Mahama calls for a tightened defence after the absences on injury of  defenders John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah.

The President moreover calls for another potential striker to help Asamoah Gyan.

“I think that what we should be working on is to strengthen our defence because since John Mensah left and Isaac Vorsah got injured we are yet to really tighten our defence and I think that the handlers should look at that,” he said.

“I also feel that we need an additional striker to complement the effort of Asamoah Gyan.

“Ghana is lacking in strikers. We produce too many midfielders; we need strikers or attacking midfielders who can score aside Gyan.

“Of course Essien, Muntari and co can do the attacking but we need natural strikers badly.

“I think between now and June we have the opportunity to work on creating a good team.”
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is intent to use Kevin-Prince Boateng as a forward as the Schalke 04 seems to be skilled in scoring goals.
