reported Friday on the sad death of South Africa’s former president and anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela commonly called “Madiba”.
Leaders around the globe including President Barack Obama of the United States were present Tuesday at the Soccer City Stadium in Soweto to pay tribute to the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
If African football stars like Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Eboue and Sulley Muntary chose to pay tribute to Madiba on their respective European lawns, Ghana’s midfielder Michael Essien of Chelsea would rather wish his Rest-In-Peace to the world’s legend via his twitter account.
“U may be gone but your legacy & words of wisdom will 4ever be with us.U changed the world.RIP NELSON MANDELA #hero
