NelsonMandela131206WavesG300SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan has led an NEC delegation to lay a wreath in honour of the late liberation struggle icon Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela at his Houghton residence.

The SAFA President spoke fondly of the world idol who passed away at his home last Thursday evening.

Dr Jordaan gave journalists a chronology of events from the time Madiba was incarcerated and the role the late statesman played for SAFA’s re-admission back into world football family.

“Here is a man whose life has touched lives of people around the globe. The congregation on Tuesday by global leaders is a testament of what Madiba stood for in this world,” said Dr Jordaan.

The SAFA President said it was only proper that people from South Africa and around the globe celebrate the legacy left behind by this icon and that people should strive to follow Madiba’s human philosophy.

“He was a selfless leader who believed in equality for all human being regardless of colour or creed.”
