In this regard, the Committee notes with appreciation, the decision of the League that only five matches will be played during the CHAN tournament.

However, after consultation with the League, an agreement was reached that the match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs scheduled for 28 January 2014 be brought forward to 23 January 2014, which is a rest period between the last round and quarter final of CHAN.

Playing this match in January will alleviate the congestion for Kaizer Chiefs when they commence with their participation in the CAF Champions League.

The Committee expresses its gratitude to the League and the affected teams for their positive consideration of the matter.

The Committee also noted a report from the Head Coach, Gordon Igesund that he has consulted with all the coaches of the PSL regarding the players selected for CHAN.

“I am very pleased with the positive spirit and commitment showed by members of the committee to find practical solutions to these challenges” said Dr Jordaan after the meeting.
