Football FIFA rankings: No much change, Côte d’Ivoire still dominates Africa

FBL-CAN-AFR2006-CIV-DROGBAFIFA, world football body, announced Thursday their first global ranking of the year. No much change since the Top 25 remains the same with Spain still on the roof of the world.

In Africa, Côte d’ Ivoire remain in top spot with and rank 17th in the world. Elephants are followed by Ghana (24th) and Algeria (27th). These three teams will be in Brazil in six months hence for the World Cup. Egypt make a strong progress of 10 ranks and rank 4th in Africa and 31st global. Cape Verde completes the Top 5 in Africa and seal 35th berth worldwide.

It took get down to the 7th rank in Africa to see Nigeria, another power to compete in Brazil, the world’s 41st. Super eagles are preceded by Mali (40th worldwide). The 5th African countries qualified for the World Cup, Cameroon is Africa’s 9th and the world’s 50th. Just behind can be seen Tunisia (44th).

Burkina Faso complete the Top 10 in African and ranks 54th worldwide.
