Football Ukraine-Belhanda: the Moroccan wanted to get to Maidan Square clashes

Younes-bbbbbPlayer of Dynamo Kiev, the Ukrainian capital club, the Moroccan midfielder Younes Belhanda, lived the unfortunate events that occurred in this country last week.

Asked by Midilibre as clashes raged between protesters, police and special forces, the former player told Montpellier having wanted to go to Maidan Square, the center of the dispute.

“They warned us that there were many snipers on rooftops and it was better to stay home. Yet I want to go on instead, to realize the situation, but it does not seem reasonable. So, I am continuously watching information on French channels,” said Belhanda .

The Moroccan international has also referred to the tense situation in the capital, before returning to quiet these days.

“At the airport, there were many people, some looters, but also protesters who control the area. We feel people suspicious, even though most were armed with shotguns, especially”.

The Independence Square, also known as Maidan Square became the symbolic place of protest in Ukraine. Dozens of protesters, mostly students, have been killed in clashes.
