Gossip Madrid Open: Serena Williams in the quarterfinals

TENNIS-ESP-WTASerena Williams continues his adventure on the red surface of the Mutua Madrid Open. On the court this Thursday for her third round match, the World No.1 disposed of Carla Suarez Navarro in two sets, 6/2, 6/3.

The Spaniard, seeded No. 14, who has never beaten the U.S. and remained on a severe defeat 6/0, 6/0 before Thursday, takes of input her serve. In the aftermath, Serena recovered to lead 3-1 on her second break of the set.

But Suarez Navarro returns to 3-2. Serena Williams connects three games to win the set in 33 minutes.

They each conceded their first two serves in the second set, before the lady with 17 Grand Slam trophies makes a final break [5-3] to confirm qualification on her serve.

In the quarterfinals, seeded No. 1 in the tournament will face Czech Petra Kvitova (6th in the WTA).
