Africa Soccer Asamoah Gyan: African top scorer at World Cup with Roger Milla

Asamoah Gyan is proud. The Ghanaian striker has made an outstanding performance Saturday against Germany. The front center of Al Ain scored the second goal of Ghana (2-2) and also went into the history of the scorers in the World Cup. Giving the advantage to the Black Stars, Gyan became the first African player to score in three World Cups in a row.

He relishes: “A privilege to be the first African to score in three finals of the World Cup”, he has stated on his Twitter account. At the same time, Gyan also holds the record of goals scored by an African at a World Cup. He has now scored 5, the same number as Cameroon legend Roger Milla.

“I am happy with this record, it is not easy to score 5 goals, I’m really happy,” he added.

Gyan scored 1 goal in Germany in 2006, 3 in 2010 in South Africa and one in Brazil. While there remains a group match for Ghana, the former Rennes could improve his stats. Known for his original goals celebrations, Gyan still graced the world of dance yesterday after his goal.
