Africa George Weah : Much pessimistic about the world of football after Covid-19

President George Weah of Liberia has expressed himself about the future of football after coronavirus. According to him, the after pandemic football is looming dark.

He was speaking at an international online conference of the Africa Sports Ventures Group.

“The engine of the sport is primarily registration fees and sponsorships – where they no longer exist, many clubs will collapse and many leagues will close permanently,” declared Weah.

« I believe that the future of sports in Africa after Covid-19 is dark and there is no guarantee to recover. It will be urgent to revive football and other disciplines », added the unique African Golden Ball. In addition, the former international fears a negative impact on sports sponsorship in particular, a major consequence of the coronavirus crisis.

Already 17 out of 54 countries have put an end to their current football season.
