STEPHEN APPIAH

Ghana participated to it first World Cup in 2006 and has as captain the great Stephen Appiah . A role he played with loyalty and concertation , as his then teammate Samuel Osei Kuffour said it .

Stephen Appiah spent 14 years wearing Ghana Black stars jersey (1996-2010) . The midfielder was known of his responsibility sense and the courage he showed on the pitch . But Appiah especially marked his teammate Samuel Kuffour by his behavior as captain during the 2006 World Cup in Germany .

“Stephen [Appiah] was the captain. When we qualified to the World Cup in 2006, he never did anything behind me. He showed me respect because I was there before him and honestly, I never thought of being a captain because it is just a band,” Kuffor told Joy Sport Link .

Osei Kuffour goes farer , comparing the leadership of Appiah to that of Lionel Messi . And according to him ; the former Juventus player was better than current Barcelona player with Argentine in 2014 .

“You show your leadership on the field of play. Let me give you a scenario here, during the 2014 World Cup, Messi was the captain for Argentina but you could see inspiration came from Mascherano. Stephen was a leader, I loved the way he conducted himself in terms of leadership..” he concluded .
