Africa Soccer Nigeria : Francis Uzoho’s thought on goalkeepers competition in national team

FRANCIS UZOHO

The Nigerian international goalkeeper Francis Uzoho , told a Lagos Radio what his point of view on goalkeepers competition in the Super eagles team is .

According to Francis Uzoho , age is an important factor for the future of a goalkeeper in national team . And as far as his eleders : Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are all above 30 , he has no pressure , rather serenity in Rohr’s team .

“Yes, it’s different, because I’m a young guy. These guys; Daniel is 32, Ezenwa is 30, so they’re not going to be there for the rest of their lives. So I’m a little bit less worried,” Uzoho told Lagos Talks .

To justify this assertion , the 21-year-old goalkeeper made an illustration with the youngest of super eagles goalkeepers Maduka Okoye , playing for German side Fortuna Dusseldorf .

“Let me give you an example, assuming is was Maduka Okoye or somebody else that is within my age, that stripped me of my position, I would be more worried because I know that this is a competition now” he said about the German-born aged 20 .

However , the current Omonia Nicosie goalkeeper says Akpeyi and Ezenwa are not out of competition . He just has to keep doing his work .

“I’m not saying that Daniel Akpeyi and Ezenwa are not competition to me, but I know that, they are above 30, so I didn’t feel so bad. I just had to keep doing my job and believe that the same way he took the position from me, I can still work hard and take it back.” he added .
