Egypt Alone, Mohamed Salah can’t carry Egyptian national team – Wael Gomaa

Mohamed Salah

If there is an undisputable leader in current Egyptian national team, it is Mohamed Salah. But former Pharaohs’ legendary defender Wael Gomaa puts on top the necessity of collective game in the squad.

Wael Gomaa is a legend in Egypt. For his 432 appearances for one of the greatest clubs in the pyramids’ country, Al Ahly. And 107 capes for the Pharaohs.

On his Instagram account, the former centre-back said Mohamed Salah needs players around him. As football is a collevctive game and he alone can’t do everything.

“Football is a collective sport and this is why Salah doesn’t play alone. There must be other players to help him with Egypt,” Gomaa said.

Moreover, Wael Gomaa insists on the fact that alone, Salah can’t carry the Egyptian national team.

“Salah can’t carry the entire national team even if he was the best player in the world. He would obviously be a great addition should he qualify with Egypt to World Cup 2022 in Qatar due to his capabilities.” he added.
