COVID-19 continues extending the list of its victims. The organizers of the New York City Marathon announce on Wednesday the cancellation of 2020 edition.
The event scheduled on 1st November for its 50th edition will no longer take place. The pandemic is still rampant in the American city and the organizers don’t intend to take any risk at all.
This is the second time the cross-country race is cancelled, after the 2012 break following the passage of Hurricane Sandy.
Last year, Kenyans Geoffrey Kamwowor and Joyciline Jepkosgei won the New York City Marathon.
Yet last month, the Boston Marathon also underwent the coronavirus law. A first cancellation in 14 years of existence.
