Nigeria Oparanozie Signs Two-Year Contract With Dijon From Guingamp


Super Falcons forward Desire Oparanozie has confirmed her move from Guingamp to Dijon in the French Women Football League after six years.

The Nigeria Super Falcons forward decided to look for fresh competitions elsewhere after the coronavirus forced the cancelation of the 2019-2020 season in France.

Oparanozie who completed her move on Tuesday took to his Twitter account to announce her new club.

Dijon tweeted the signing of Oparanozie

She wrote; “Officially i am now a Dijonnais. I am very happy starting a new adventure with this club. The object is to help my new team attain greater heights. Come on Dijonnais💪🏾.”

The forward scored 45 goals in 106 appearances for Guingamp including her six goals in the 12 games she played before the league was suspended.

Oparanozie has been eyed by top clubs in Europe especially from Spain but with her switch, she will not have to go through the process of permits.

She agreed to a two-year deal with Dijon to become the first signing of Yannick Chandioux who is hoping to ensure the team remain in the French Women top-flight league ahead of next season.

She was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup where they narrowly loss to hosts, France.

Oparanozie started at Bayelsa and Delta Queens in Nigeria and winning two titles with the Warri based outfit before she moved abroad to sign for Turkish side Luleburgaz 39 Spor in 2011.  

She played for Russia club, Rossiyanka in the 2012 UEFA Women’s Champions League which was her first outing.
