Nigerian Players abroad Sevilla Adds Salt To Omeruo’s Injury With Defeat To Leganes

Kenneth Omeruo returned to the starting XI for Leganes on Tuesday night in the La Liga but lasted just five minutes due to injury as they suffered a 3-0 home loss to Sevilla.

Omeruo missed last week 2-1 loss against Osasuna away but made the team starting line-up in their battle for survival.

However, the defender who have been solid and hasn’t loss any game he started since the league restart played just five minutes before he was substituted.

The former Chelsea defender couldn’t complete the game after he was badly hit by a ball and was replaced by compatriot, Chidozie Awaziem.

Sevilla who started the game in control of possession took their chances as Oliver Torres broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute.

Leganes came close to equalizing through Guerrero who had the best chance for Leganes on the first half after the hydration pause with a header that Vaclik managed to stop. 

One minute later, Oliver Torres scored again for the visitors after getting in the area and shooting the ball from inside. 0-2 after the first half.

Munir put the game beyond reach with the third goal of the match. 

Leganés remains in bottom of the table with 25 points.

Their next match will be against Espanyol Sunday.
