Nigerian Players abroad Iwobi In Contention For Everton Young Player Of The Year Award

Alex Iwobi has been nominated as one of the contender for Everton’s Young Player and player of the Season awards.

Iwobi who joined the Toffees this season from Arsenal made the list of players according to the announcement on the club website.

Aside the Player and Young Player award, another category is Goal of the Season.

Iwobi, 24, has scored two goals and made one assist in 26 appearances in all competitions for Everton this season.

Every current Everton player who has made an appearance this term is eligible for votes by the club fans in the Player of the Season category.

In the Young Player vote, anyone who has played for the first team and was 23 or under at the start of the season is included.

Iwobi will face competition from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tom Davies, Anthony Gordon, Mason Holgate, Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Richarlison.

For the Goal of the Season, there is a slight change this year, with strikes from Everton Women and the Under-23s included alongside those from the first team.

For each of the three categories, fans are expected to pick their top three where the winners in each categories will be announced.

A statement on the club official website reads;

“Which young Blues talent has impressed most this term?

It’s time to vote for three prestigious end of season awards.

“As usual, we’re asking supporters to decide the Player of the Season, the Young Player of the Season and the Goal of the Season.

“Every current Everton player who has made an appearance this term is eligible for your votes in the Player of the Season category and we’re asking you to nominate your top three performers.

“Once the voting is over, we’ll crunch the numbers to work out the Evertonians’ choice to follow last year’s winner, Lucas Digne.

“In the Young Player vote, anyone who has played for the first team and was 23 or under at the start of the season is included. 

“Again, we want your top three – will Richarlison retain his title from last term?

“Goal of the Season is subject to a slight change this year, with strikes from Everton Women and the Under-23s included alongside those from the first team.

“Pick your top three and see who comes out on top!

“The winners will be revealed in a specially-created virtual awards ceremony at the end of the season.”
