Nigeria NPFL: Abia Warriors Will Challenge For Title Next Season-Inyama

Chairman of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors Pastor Emeka Inyama says the Club will challenge for honours next season.

Pastor Inyama made the disclosure during a radio programme on Passion F.M Uyo while discussing sports as monitored by Africa Top Sports.

With the signing of Imama Amapkabo as the new head coach of Abia Warriors, the club Chairman is confident his will be battle ready for silverware next season.

The 2020-202 NPFL season is expected to resume September or October after the 2019-2020 season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The seasoned sport administrator said his club will aim bigger next season.

He said, “We need to drive the club this time around our ambition this time is to contest for honours and go for the big picture”.

Commenting on the club new manager, Amakapabo, Pastor Inyama said he will bring his vast experience to the club.

“Imama is a big coach, he has pedigree, he has won the league with Rangers, he has cut his teeth with other clubs like Sharks and Enyimba.

“He has also worked with the National team, coach of U-23, Assistant Coach to Gernot Rohr, so he has something to offer.

Reacting on the club functional academy that have produced players who are now playing for other clubs, the former Abia State Commissioner for Sports said;

“We believe in the youth, Football is about the youth and we want to also sell players while they are young.

“We are very foundational we take them from Academy to team B, from Team B to the main team and that has paid off over the years because of the products we have produced many who have gone to play in other clubs in Nigeria”

Abia Warriors remains one of the club in the NPFL that have not gone on relegation sonce they regained promotion to the top-flight league.

On Friday, the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and club owners in all leagues agreed that the Points Per Game (PPG) be used to submit names of club that will represent the country in next season’s CAF Competitions.
