Football Mourinho, Klopp Criticize CAS Decision To Lift Man City Ban

Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho has kicked against the decision by the Court of Arbitration For Sports to overturn Manchester City UEFA Champions League ban.

CAS on Monday ruled that the decision by UEFA to suspended Manchester City for two years was not right but also reduced the fine of £30m to £10m.

Both managers made their separate comment on the decisions but agreed that the decision could be detrimental to the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Klopp in his pre-match conference ahead of Wednesday game against Arsenal said he is happy Manchester City will play in the Champions League next season.

The Liverpool manager said;

“I am happy that City can play in the Champions League but I don’t think it was a good day for football yesterday, to be honest.

“Just because I think FFP is a good idea. It’s there for protecting teams, protecting the competition.

“That was the idea at the start, that nobody overspends and stuff like this. Clubs have to make sure that money they want to spend is based on the right sources.”

Jose Mourinho on his part was blunt as he branded the decision “Disgraceful and a Disaster.

The former Chelsea manager who splashed out the money to get the players he needed while at Chelsea said the decision will be the end of Financial Fair Play rule.

If Manchester City is not guilty of it, to be punished by some million is a disgrace.

“If you’re not guilty you’re not punished. In the other way, if you’re guilty you should be banned.

“In any case, it’s a disaster.”I’m not saying Manchester City is guilty.

I’m saying if you’re not guilty you don’t pay. Even with a pound.”I know that money is quite easy for them but still.

“If you’re guilty you should be banned from the competition.”I’m nobody to know if they’re guilty or not.

My criticism is for the decision.” “I think it is going to be the end of Financial Fair Play because there is no point.

“In this moment, we are speaking about Manchester City but in the past other clubs were in a similar situation and you know the results of it.

“So I think it is better to open the circus door and let everybody enjoy and go inside for free and come out again. Do it with freedom.”
