FECAFOOT

The next football season in Cameroon could open between October and September. This is the main information to take from the press briefing organized this Thursday by FECAFOOT.

During a meeting with the Cameroonian press this Thursday in Yaoundé, the president of the Federation Seidou Mbombo Njoya, gave an indicative date for the start of the next season. The one that will be confirmed or denied due to the evolution of the health situation.

“In Cameroon, we have recorded more than 15,000 cases of coronavirus and health is priceless. We cannot joke with people’s lives. Allowing 20,000 or 40,000 people to the stadium is criminal. I understand everyone’s desire to return to the field. The organizers also like to return to the pitch, but we have to do it right, which respects the measures that have been given by FIFA, with the WHO, we will not start until we are certain that it is feasible ” ,he declares.

According to the words of the president of FECAFOOT, if the championships resume in October or September, they could be suspended after two months of competition. This is to make room for the preparations for the local selection for the CHAN 2020 scheduled for January 2021.

As a reminder, the different championships ended prematurely on May 12th due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
