Africa 2006 World Cup – Corruption : Richard Kingson Makes amazing revelations

Richard Kingson, a former goalkeeper in Ghanaian team, could have sabotaged the Black Stars’ career at the 2006 World Cup. Had it not been for his wife’s threats, the former goalkeeper of Blackpool could have been persuaded by the corrupters.

Defeated in the round of 16 by Brazil, Ghana would never have experienced such an adventure in Germany. After his first setback in the group game, the Black Stars were back against the Czech Republic. Some times Before this encounter, a lot of things happened behind the scenes.

In an interview to Max TV, Richard Kingson revealed that he was approached by a Ghanaian businessman with a mount of $300,000 to decide on the fate of this game.

We lost our first game against Italy and we had to win our second game against the Czech Republic. Before the game, a Ghanaian businessman called me. We met and he brought me to people who offered me $300,000 just to concede two goals,” he confessed.

“I was totally confused and I was in a kind of trance. They even promised to give me other incentives. I quickly called my wife and informed her. Her answer was that if I accept the money, our marriage is over. She told me to put Ghana first, what brought me to my senses. Dan Quaye was my roommate at that time. So he was the only player I shared this with. I got into the game and achieved a great performance.” Concluded the former Ghana goalkeeper.

At 42, he played 90 games with the Ghanaian national team.
