He captioned it; “First day at Office” on his verified Twitter handle.

The young goalie started his career with Bayer Leverkusen before joining Dusseldorf.

He spent last season with the Dusseldorf who returned to relegation.

Okoye was the club’s second choice goalkeeper and featured in 14 games conceding 26 goals with just two clean sheet.

Despite having a dual citizenship with father Nigerian and mother German, he decided to play for his fatherland.

Okoye was first invited to the Nigeria U23 team February 2019 by Imama Amapakabo for the 2019 African U-23 qualifier against Libya.

But he couldn’t make it due to club engagement.

On July 2019, Gernot Rohr turned his focus to Maduka after Carl Ikeme quit football when he was diagnosed of leukamia.

Finally, on 13 October 2019, he made his international debut as a substitute in a friendly match against Brazil, ending 1–1 coming for injured Francis Uzoho in the 63rd minute.
