The list of suspended world athletics champions is growing. The last case concerns Elijah Manangoi. The Kenyan was temporarily suspended on Thursday for failure to localization by the Athletics Integrity Unit.

Manangoi is suspended for 3 no-shows. On three occasions, the athlete could not give his location to the anti doping experts.

The 27-year-old Kenyan won gold at the London World Games for 1,500 m in 2017. Two years later, he won silver in Beijing.

The IAU also has suspended three other Kenyan athletes on Thursday. Kenneth Kipkemoi, winner of the 2017 Rotterdam Marathon, was suspended for two years with retroactive effect from 20 February 2020 for the use of terbutalin. The marathon runner Mercy Kibarus was suspended for eight years (from December 2019) after a positive check to norandrosterone. Siele was also suspended for refusing to provide a doping sample or attempting to escape from control.
