South Africa SAFA appoint Abdul Basit Ebrahim as new Head of Referees

South African Football Association (SAFA) announce on Monday that it appoints Abdul Basit Ebrahim as the new Head of Referees of the association.

Following the deapature of Tenda Masikhwa, Basit Ebrahim takes over the post of Head of referees.

“27 July 2020 –The South African Football Association (SAFA) has appointed Abdul Basit Ebrahim as the new Head of Referees,” SAFA wrote on it official website.

“Ebrahim, who is a former FIFA referee and FIFA/CAF trained instructor, takes over from Tenda Masikhwa who has left the Association to pursue other opportunities.” SAFA added.

Indeed, Ebrahim, 53, has been a FIFA referee from 2006 to 2011. He also refereed 68 Premier Soccer League appearances during his career.

“First, I would like to thank everyone especially SAFA for providing me with this challenging but exciting opportunity to head the Referees’ Department,” Ebrahim told SAFA.net

“South Africa has been at the forefront of producing the best match officials on the continent and I would like the country to continue being pacesetters in this area. I want to assure everyone that I will do my best in this position…” He added.
