Ghana Black Stars Pursuit On Salisu Yet To Yield Positive Outcome

Coach of Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, Charles Akonnot has revealed they are yet to woe Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.

Salisu whose parents are Ghanaian had an impressive first season with Valladolid which has attracted attention of top clubs in Europe.

However, the Black Stars coach is hoping to hand him an international cap before he could pledge allegiance to any country.

The 21-year old was invited to play for Ghana in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.

But at the last moment, he turned down citing injury as his reason for not joining the team.

Akonnor while speaking with Angel TV said he has made effort to reach the player but all has not been fruitful.

“Yes, we’ve tried to reach out to him [Salisu Mohammed] but we’ve been unsuccessful.

Salisu’s performance in his breakthrough season with the Spanish club has got Premier League side, Southampton hoping to sign him ahead of next season.
