Moroccan Botola Pro side Wydad Casablanca announces five COVID-19 positive cases among PCR tests made on August 12th, including three players.

Five players from Wydad Casablanca (WAC), one of the most successful clubs in the Moroccan football championship, have tested positive for Covid-19, the club announced on Friday. Their state of health is “stable,” said Wydad, whose Championship meeting scheduled for Friday against FAR Rabat has been postponed. 

Two other matches which were to be played on the same day were also postponed “in accordance with the decision of the competent authorities to place the players in confinement” of three teams, according to the Moroccan Football Federation.

The Raja dolphin in the league said that “five of its members tested positive for Covid-19 after checks carried out on all club employees last Wednesday”. According to information, three players are concerned, namely Atlas Lions winger Ismail El Haddad, left side Badr Gaddarine and defender Ibrahim Najmeddine. The Reds’ physical trainer and a member of the administration have also tested positive.

In addition, “all those in contact will be subject to medical isolation in Casablanca, while providing all the conditions, means and precautions recommended by the health services in order to prevent the spread of the virus,” the statement explains. According to the same source, the club will carry out another medical examination for all the components of the team, in order to determine their state of health, and the club will also carry out a complete process of sterilization within the sports complex Mohammed Benjelloun.

Finalist of the last African Champions League, WAC is one of the two big clubs of the economic capital Casablanca, with Raja, its eternal rival.
