Nigeria UFC: Adesanya To Defend Title Against Undefeated Costa

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has been mandated to defend his title against Brazillian star Paulo Costa.

Adesanya known as the Stylebender defeated Robert Whittaker last year to hold the middleweight belt.

His next opponent, Costa has remain undefeated in his career setting the stage for one of the greatest fight to watch.

Adesanya’s next opponent was announced in a short Twitter video on UFC verified account with the fight expected to take place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi September 26.

The Nigerian born Mixed Martial Art (MMA) will be hoping to successfully defends the title against Costa who has won all his 13 fights.

A biceps injury prevented Costa from fighting Adesanya after he defeated Romero at the UFC 241.

Recall when the Stylebender defeated Romero, he called out Costa who was in attendance.

Costa was seen jumping over the fence to the Octagon after the judges declared Adesanya winner against Romero.

The Nigerian fighter told Costa: “I see you soon, boy.”

UFC president Dana Whites described the fight as ‘Fight of the Year’ after the UFC 252 fight on Saturday.

He said, “I don’t know what you guys think, but I predict that’s ‘Fight of the Year.

 “I think stylistically, it’s the perfect fight.

“If you look at the way Costa fights, he puts pressure on you, he stays in your face the whole time. 

“Adesanya likes to stay on the outside and pick you apart.

“I think that fight is going to be an absolute war.

“Just stylistically, it matches up really, really well, and both guys are animals. 

“Both guys want this fight really bad, and I think it’s going to be ‘Fight of the Year.”
