Ghana Paintsil : ex-Black star admitted he nearly became “police officer”

John Paintsil confessed his childhood dream was to become a police officer as his father was inspiring him. Former Ghana right-back revealed the story behind his football career.

Paintsil could have been a police officer as his father as he said to be always admiring them. However, he did not because of football which was his passion.

”I’ve always admired police officers, because my father was a police officer,” John Paintsil told Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana.

”I was only playing football because I enjoyed it, but what I really wanted to do was to join the police service.

John Paintsil was appointed South African top-flight side Kaizer Chiefs’ assistant manager in 2016.

”Growing up, I was only waiting to finish with my secondary education and join the police service, but then football came calling.” he added.

In addition, the 39-year-old made 83 appearances with Ghana Black Stars.
