Africa Morocco : Vahid Halilhodzic Does not Want to Dwell on El Haddadi’s Case

Winner of the Europa League with FC Seville last Friday, Munir El Haddadi dreams of playing for the Moroccan team. For the time being, he is still unable to do so. For this reason, he was selected only once in 2014 with the Spanish team and he played only one game. This prevents him to play with the Atlas Lions since the rules prohibit it.

However, discussions at FIFA may lead to some reforms that will allow Munir El Haddadi to play for his home country. But we are not there yet and the Lions’ coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, does not want to go on about this.

I know that he wants to represent Morocco, as we saw during his celebration after the Europa League final. (He exhibited the Berber flag and that of Morocco). But his case is difficult. And FIFA has not yet solved. So I won’t spend too much time on it for the moment.” Declared the Bosnian technician in a statement relayed by Maghrib Foot Twitter account.

El Haddadi will therefore follow very closely the next FIFA congress which will look at this case. The meeting takes place on 18 September.
