Nigeria Egbo Champions League Fairytale With Tirana Comes To An End

Ndubuisi Egbo aspiration of qualifyng KF Tirana to the UEFA Champions League group stage has been shattered by Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.

Egbo who had thought of playing against Premier League clubs like Manchester United in next season UEFA Champions League didn’t leave to see it actualize.

Having defeated Georgia side,  Dinamo Tbilisi 2-0 in the first round of the qualifiers, Egbo and his lads were hoping to continue their Cinderella story.

However, their fairytale in the quest to progress to the next stage hit the rock following a 1-0 to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade in the second round qualifier.

A 62nd minute goal from Tomane was end of road for Egbo and his lads who had won the Albanian League title in the 2019-2020 season.

Tirana will now focus on preparing to defend their title next season in the Albanian League.

Egbo who was a goalkeeper with the Super Eagles became the first African coach to lead a European team to win a league title.
