Belgian side Beerschot has confirmed on Thursday the signing of Belgian defensive midfielder of DR Congo origin Keres Masangu, from Italian side AS Roma.

At 20, Keres Masangu decided to return to Belgium. The young Belgo-Congolese signed a three-year contract, with an option for an additional season, at the Olympic Stadium in Antwerp. Trained in Mechelen, Masangu joined the club from the Italian capital in 2017. He notably played five Youth League matches, the Champions League for under-19s, with AS Roma.

“I am happy to have taken on this challenge and I have learned a lot. I am happy that the Beerschot offers me the possibility of having playing time to take the next step. I want to show what I’m capable of, ” Masangu said on the Antwerp club’s website.

“Keres is a physically strong player who collects a lot of balls. Technically, he is also very good. He is young, Belgian and has a lot of potential. It can develop at home , ” added Sander Van Praet, manager of Beerschot.
