Nigeria We Must Do All We Can To Protect The Future Of Wigan- Victor Moses

Nigerian international Victor Moses said he will do anything within his capability to protect the future of his former club, Wigan Athletic.


Moses football career blosomed when he joined Wigan from Crystal in January 2010 after Palace went into administration.


The same fate is befalled on Wigan who are seeking financial bailout after they entered administration in July and were also demoted to League One.

Touched by his former club financial predicament, Moses who is on loan with Inter Milan decided to donate to the course of seeing the club play again.


After making the donation, the Chelsea winger expressed his desire and love to the club via a tweet.


“Wigan Athletic will always have a special place in my heart, he wrote.”


“I have so many incredible memories from my time there and the people of Wigan & everyone associated with the club have always been so good to me and my family.


“We must do all we can to protect the future of this great club. “

Wigan appreciated the effort of their former player who joined others to contribute financially to ensure they play again.


The club in a tweet thanked Moses for his support.

After receiving other donations from Gofundme, the Lactics are optimistic their request will be granted.

A statement from the club on Wednesday reads;

“The Joint Administrators recently met with representatives of the EFL for permission from them to start the season on 13 September 2020. 

“We are informed that the board of the EFL are meeting later this week and one of the items is to consider this request. 

“We have kept the EFL informed of the progress of selling the club and we are quietly optimistic that this permission will be given. 

“An update will be given once the board of the EFL have written to us.”
