Al Ahly legend Wael Gomaa said French manager Patrice Carteron betrayed Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek by leaving them at a crucial moment.
Frenchman Carteron parted ways with Zamalek on Wednesday and took on Saudi Professional League side Al Taawon’s coaching job. This, seven monts after having extended his contract with Cairo giants.
As for Wael Gomaa, this nothing but betrayal.
“Carteron has betrayed Zamalek. He left the team in a crucial moment before the Champions League semifinal,” Wael Gomaa told beIN Sports.
“It’s an awaited title for Zamalek, Al Ahly and also their Moroccan opponents Wydad and Raga. The fact that he paid the termination clause by himself shows that he betrayed the club.”
