Nigerian Players abroad Simon Moses Fails To Deliver As Nantes Bow To Lille

Moses Simon promise that Nantes will come back stronger after last week 2-2 draw could not come to past as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Lille in Friday Ligue 1 game.
 
Simon in last weekend scored his first goal of the season for Nantes in their 2-2 draw at home with Saint Etienne.
 
After the game, the Super Eagles winger said the team have learnt their lesson and will return stronger in their next game.
 
But the reverse was the case as Nantes were handed their second defeat of the season at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
 
Despite being involved in action for the whole duration, Simon did not find the net neither any of his teammate as they were sent back home empty handed.
 
Nicholas Pallois own goal in the 43rd minute and Burak Yilmaz’s 87th minute goal was enough for Lille to go top of the Ligue 1 table.
 
Nantes have won just one game draw two and lose two in their five matches so far, a result Christian Gourcuff was not proud about.
 
Speaking after the game, Gourcuff rued his players inability to take their chances.
 
He said, “In football, you have to score more goals than the opponent. 
“We haven’t done it. Our performance is far from ridiculous. We are shy in the first half. 
“We dominate in the second, but we have to do better, certainly. 
“The second goal is anecdotal because we are caught against it. 
“It’s a little worrying because we lose 2-0 with a good game. 
“We have the chances, very clearly.
Commenting on the positive side and the team lapses in the game the manager said they disturbed their hosts to an extent.

“I think we disturbed them at the After a quarter of an hour. 

 
“My disappointment was with our exit from the ball. We proved it in the second half. 
 
“Lille came out very quickly, especially with racing qualities that were quite rare in the championship.
“On the first goal, we played in our half of the field because under pressure.
“The goal did not come from a very clear action, but the Lille were exerting pressure.
“Either we hit the front, or the spell collectively, which we did in the second half. “
Nantes will continue third journey on the road when the travel to Nice next weekend to try and bounce back from their defeat.
